What you need to know about the 2018 Annual Forum

Visiting the Brisbane showgrounds

The Brisbane Showground is located just 1.5km from the city’s CBD in Bowen Hills.

It’s bordered by Bowen Bridge Road, O’Connell Terrace, Brookes Street and St Paul’s Terrace and is home to the state-of-the-art Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC), a four and a half star Rydges Hotel and vibrant King Street dining hub.

It’s also in walking distance of Fortitude Valley, which boasts some of the best boutique shopping in Brisbane along with a diverse range of entertainment options.

Public transport is easily accessible and Brisbane’s Domestic and International Airports are just a quick 15 minute taxi ride away.

Accessibility

The Brisbane Showgrounds is designed to provide exceptional services and facilities to all visitors.

The Royal ICC is wheelchair accessible on both levels and designated car parking spaces are located on ground level. Wheelchairs are also available from the Customer Relations team.

Individual accessibility restrooms are located on both the upper and lower levels of the Royal ICC and there is one ambulant toilet within each bathroom location.

Live captioning will be shown on all screens throughout both days. Breakout rooms are equipped with floor projected hearing loops, and the Main Hall has an FM system with neckloop receiver.

Car parking

$13 per day from 7am to midnight

The Brisbane Showgrounds is also in close proximity to numerous public transport options, including Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley train stations which are only a 10 minute walk away, as well as bus access on surrounding streets.  Both taxi and Uber drop off areas are accessible.

Taxis

The main taxi companies operating in Brisbane are Black and White Cabs (ph. 13 32 22) and Yellow Cabs (ph. 13 19 24).

There are taxi zones located outside Rydges Hotel and The George Bar and Bistro on King Street.

Trains and Buses

Local buses and trains are operated by Translink, and any ticket purchased is valid for use on Translink trains, buses, and ferries. For further information on ticketing or journey planning visit the Translink website.

Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley railway stations are less than a 15 minute walk from the Brisbane Showgrounds.

  • Buses

Buses access the streets surrounding the Brisbane Showgrounds regularly. To plan your journey on the Translink Journey Planner, enter “Brisbane Showgrounds” as your destination.

You can also choose to ride the CityGlider buses, which provide high-frequency transport from West End to Teneriffe and Ashgrove to Stones Corner, while the free City Loop bus service is perfect for exploring the CBD.
