Multilingual Consumers: Proofread Translated Informed Consent Forms

Queensland Department of Health: Informed Consent

Clinical Excellence Queensland’s Informed Consent Program is seeking eleven (11) consumers from linguistically diverse backgrounds to proofread forms that have been translated into 11 languages.  Nine informed consent forms need proofreading to make sure the documents have been translated accurately and are easy to understand.

The successful consumers will receive draft translated consent forms and patient information sheets, and the original English version to compare with. They will read these and identify:

  • if difficult words/concepts are explained clearly
  • if the text has been written in a way that most adults could understand
  • if the text has been translated correctly

Who is it for?

This opportunity would suit consumers who have a linguistically diverse background and are native speakers and writers of one or more of the following 11 languages:

  • Simplified Chinese
  • Traditional Chinese
  • Vietnamese
  • Spanish
  • Italian
  • Korean
  • Hindi
  • Punjabi
  • Tagalog (Filipino)
  • Japanese
  • Samoan

Queensland Clinical Network Executive Consumer Member

The Queensland Clinical Networks’ Executive (QCNE)  is seeking a consumer representative to be part of the team. The QCNE role is to be strategically involved in healthcare innovation and initiatives to improve healthcare service delivery and patient outcomes.

Purpose

The QCNE is a small executive team of clinical network chairs. They have been convened to provide a visible leadership structure for clinical networks enabling effective and efficient engagement with stakeholders from across the health system.

Role of the consumer

  • Actively participate in QCNE discussions.
  • Confidently advocate on behalf of people they will be asked to represent.
  • Bring a consumer / carer perspective to all discussion and decision-making.
  • Possess a good understanding of matters that affect people receiving health services.
  • Have well developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team and maintain good working relationships with team members and other stakeholders.

Join the Mental Health and Addiction Portal Working Group (MHAP)

The Clinical Systems Collections and Performance Unit (CSCPU) of the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Branch (MHAODB) is inviting two (2) consumer and carer representatives with lived experience and recent engagement with services in the public or private sector of mental health and alcohol and other drugs services to participate in a working group. Consumers will have the opportunity to inform and guide the program of work associated with the ongoing development, maintenance and use of their data warehouse solution.

The Mental Health and Addiction Portal (MHAP) Working Group has been established to provide direction and facilitate the program of work associated with the ongoing development, maintenance and use of MHAP to align with the MHAOD Digital Information Strategy which provide strategic direction for digital transformation over the next 5 years.

Share your views on accessing three-day emergency medicine supply from a pharmacist

Closing date: 2pm, Thursday 9th September

Do you have a chronic or long-term health condition requiring ongoing medication? Health Consumers Queensland has two online focus group opportunities for health consumers with chronic or long-term conditions to share their experience and thoughts on accessing three-day emergency medicine supply from a pharmacist. We are seeking six consumers for each one-hour focus group.

The focus groups will be held online via Zoom on:
Monday 6th September – This focus group has now been filled.
Monday 13th September – 1.00pm – 2.00pm

Consumers will be remunerated with a $40 gift voucher for their time in line with Health Consumers Queensland’s remuneration position statement.
