The Office of the Chief Psychiatrist (OCP) within the Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs Branch, Clinical Excellence Queensland, Queensland Health is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from consumers and carers witha lived experience of mental health, substance use, crisis and/or suicidality (including their families and carers) for their participation in the Chief Psychiatrist policy review project Stakeholder Steering Committee (SteerCo).
We encourage First Nations consumers and carer representatives to apply for this role, to increase First Nations perspectives and lived experiences and amplify the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations in this review.
The Chief Psychiatrist is required to make policies or practice guidelines under the Mental Health Act 2016. All Mental Health Act 2016 policies are reviewed at least every three years to ensure requirements remain in line with the intent of the Mental Health Act 2016.
The Office of the Chief Psychiatrist has a strong commitment to partnering with consumers and carers and First Nations people with a lived experience who have used Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drug services to develop policies, improve safety initiatives and inform regulatory reform processes in relation to the Mental health Act 2016 to ensure it meets the needs of those who are accessing services.
Purpose
The purpose of the SteerCo is to provide strategic oversight and guidance to the Chief Psychiatrist policy review project and support increased opportunities for stakeholder input. More detail can be found in the expression of interest document.
About this role:
Meetings will be held via Microsoft teams.
Consumers and carers will be reimbursed for their time on the SteerCo, including preparation for meetings and reading time in line with HCQ’s remuneration statement.
