The Joint Needs Assessment Working Group (JNAWG) has been established under the Queensland – Commonwealth Partnership to develop a joint needs assessment framework that will enable a single local health needs assessment for:

- Hospital and Health Services
- Primary Health Networks
- Qld Health’s Mental Health and Other Drugs Branch
- Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations
The Queensland – Commonwealth Partnership has identified three priority areas
- Data and Joint Planning
- Strengthening Primary and Community Care
- Building a Governance Framework
The JNAWG has a focus on the Data and Joint Planning area.
